Rumoured to have been built for an important sea captain, it has had a variety of uses over the years. It was turned into a lodging house with shared his and her bathrooms in the 1970’s. Now Fern Villa has a new life as a 4 star family run bed and breakfast, with well appointed rooms in a quiet location with amazing sea and countryside views. The gardens extend to three quarters of an acre and guests are most welcome to enjoy them, just sit and relax, maybe with a glass of wine and enjoy the views!

Fern Villa is situated in the village of Goodwick which was once just a cluster of fishermen’s cottages.There is plenty to see, so why not explore the narrow streets and cliff paths and take in the glorious views over the coastline. If you are lucky you may spot a grey seal or even a dolphin or porpoise. If you feel like relaxing, head for Goodwick Sands and the Parrog where you can watch the world go by. Why not take a stroll into Fishguard along the pictureseque Marine Walk, which provides lovely views overlooking Lower Fishguard. It is a 1 mile walk which takes about 25 minutes.

It also provides further places to eat and explore, including a range of quaint shops and restaurants. Lower Fishguard Harbour is worth a visit and has featured in a number of films such as Under Milkwood. The picturesque harbour is a must see and cannot fail to leave an impression. Fern Villa is an ideal base for exploring Pembrokeshire. We are a short drive from local attractions such as Strumble head lighthouse, Tregwynt woollen mill and St Davids along with many others.
For those who enjoy walking, we are only a five minute walk from the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and during the summer season, you can use the daily coastal buses to help plan your walks. We love the area and are keen walkers ourselves, and are more than happy to help you.

your-hostsIf you want to leave the car behind or take a break from driving, you can use the local buses to help you explore the area. There is a bus stop just down the road which will take you to St Davids, Newport, Cardigan, and many other local attractions. The new railway station at Fishguard and Goodwick provides a vastly improved train service to the area and is only 2 minutes away. There are now 6 trains a day to choose from.

Fern Villa is within a 20 minute driving distance of St Davids (famous for its magnificent Cathedral) and the market towns of Haverfordwest and Cardigan with their castles. There are also the golden sandy beaches of Newport, Whitesands and Tenby nearby. Inland why not explore the hidden delights of the Gwaun Valley or the Preseli mountains with their bluestone rocks. Take a boat out to Skomer or Ramsey Island and spot the wildlife. There are lots of hidden coves and natural delights close by, often only known to the locals, but which we will be happy to direct you to.
